Porcelanosa Manhattan anxiously anticipates September opening
Porcelanosa employees and clients alike anxiously anticipate the opening of its most prestigious showroom yet, located on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. The showroom renovation has taken about two years, and as the long awaited opening nears the excitement is almost palpable.
The Building’s Restoration
Foster + Partners completed the amazing remodel on the new Porcelanosa building in New York City. Restoring the building to its original neoclassical façade, the interior encompasses a modern and cutting-edge with eight floors harnessing Porcelanosa’s best and most innovative products to-date.
During construction, PORCELANOSA paid extra attention to the building’s sustainability, opting to maximize its energy efficiency by obtaining the LEED Gold certification. The requirements to meet such a certification included installing an insulated covering system that reduces carbon emissions by 50% that would naturally cool the space, while also reducing water consumption by nearly half.
The Interior
The previously low ceilings have been opened up to reveal an open and airy space throughout the eight floors. Mezzanines connect the different exhibition rooms allowing for flexible use of the spaces for workshops and conferences.
To maximize natural light, the buildings main entrance has been moved to Fifth Avenue, allowing for windows on virtually every available wall. This, paired with the mezzanines leaves a bright and inviting space to peruse for a few hours.
