Kitchen Trends for 2016
I can’t even believe that it is almost Christmas and the year is coming to an end. I know I’m not alone when I say that 2016 crept up on us. That being said, there is a whole new year to look forward to and some fun new interior trends. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, kitchens just might be my favorite area in the home to design and style. They really are the focal point where everyone loves to gather. When designing your kitchen, choose wisely and boldly because there are too many boring kitchens in this world—have fun with yours!
- Choosing a wall color is quite the task and a huge commitment. A big misconception is that dramatic colors make a small space feel even tinier, but I actually find that it will make any room feel grander. I have a couple tips and tricks to use when deciding what room to choose for a dark color. First, make sure that the room has plenty of natural light coming in. Natural light plays a huge factor. After all, there isn’t a lamp in the world that can light up a room like sunlight. It goes without saying that even though it is possible to paint a windowless room a dark color, it is very risky. You don’t want to leave a space feeling depressed.
- A new up and coming trend that will come to be very appealing in 2016 is having dark kitchen cabinets as opposed to white. As much as I love white, dark cabinets take my breath away every time. Without much effort they steal the show because the eye is naturally drawn to bold dark colors. Aesthetically it’s a smart choice but it is a great practical choice as well. Your cabinets won’t get as dirty and styling your kitchen space will be simple due to the boldness of the colors. With this trend, minimal decor is encouraged.
- Two-toned kitchens are on the top of my list for 2016. You can choose a solid color for lower cabinets and add a white slab or wooden cabinets to the top ones or you vice versa. The most exciting part about this is that there is no method or formula to follow. You have the power to do exactly what you want, just the way you love it.
I found some stunning stones that would look amazing paired together in a kitchen. This Roble Organico has such a soft wooden tone to it and would pair beautifully with Carrara Blanco Natural. Also, when searching for you perfect dark color don’t be afraid to go with all black, here’s negro color that I love. Finally, If you wanting to add value to your home check out this gorgeous dark green color for your cabinets Roble Caqui. Or maybe even the dark blue Azul Marino If green seems like too big of a commitment for you.
